I love Martha and Mrs. Cooper! My dad has long had a thing for Martha Stewart, and these photos help me understand why. As for Mrs. Cooper–look at how stylish she is while doing all that work! They are both different versions of a fantasy, aren’t they? But fun, and I’m all for fun.

I’ve saved the cellphone article to a new Pinterest board called adulting. I know I’m past qualifying for an AARP card, but it’s never too late to get better at that. And I shared your article on millennial reading habits to FB because I get so tired of the millennial bashing I see there. I really like that generation, more and more.

I read the article on the miseducation of American boys a while back, and it hit me hard as the mother of a son. I’m past the point of being able to do anything about it–he’s grown, now–but only just. I can speak to the truth of the ideas in that article. Wish I had good solutions to offer.

As always, appreciate your finds. I love the mix of topics and fun/serious in your lists. A treat to have so many posts from you! I highly applaud your intention to blog more! 🙂

I love that you have a Pinterest board called adulting. I’m going to have to copy that idea!!

Mrs. Cooper and Martha are very much a fantasy of mine. I’ve said a few times this year that if I had my life to do over, I definitely would have tried to find a small hobby farm or some land to build on and tried to be more of a homesteader. I follow a few on instagram and their posts always make me smile.

I don’t know if/what clear solutions exist for raising our boys, but as the mother of a tender hearted son, I feel a real call to protect and nurture that side of him. Honestly, as much as that article is disheartening, it also gave me hope. Pointing out a problem is the first step in addressing it and I’m seeing more and more of an effort to do right by our boys. I don’t think it’s going to be an easy fix, and I don’t think my generation is going to see the change that is necessary, but I’m seeing movement in the right direction.

As always, I appreciate you and your comments! These posts are fun for me too and I always like hearing what people have to say!! (It’s a little like a virtual article club.) 🙂

That glossary of mom terms is WAY too accurate! 🙂

I love finding out that yoga has so many benefits! (Are you still going to your class?)

The article on the miseducation of American boys—I’m at a loss for words, tbh. I wonder if this is how things are *everywhere*? What a depressing thought…

I definitely need a delete button for my brain, and I love the garden analogy—that article actually gives me hope that if I keep trying to practice mindfulness/breathing/meditation I might just be able to prune some of my more troubling thoughts.

    Have a good weekend, Kate!

I know, right? I laughed when I first read it!!

I have been going to my yoga class (thank you for asking!!) – though not as regularly as I should with the holidays. Now, I’d like to add a class with a little more movement.

I found the delete button article around the same time Violet was learning about neural pathways in her health class. We had some very interesting discussions on how the more you do something the more natural it becomes to do it and that with work you can actually retrain your brain to create different paths. All of that was a factor in me picking the word practice for this year. I’m glad you found it hopeful!!
