Thanks, Kari!! It was a fun exercise (especially in not letting myself over think!)
There are a few that make me want to know more: Why a spreadsheet? And why northwest? That, with you being an emerald and the scent of fresh cut lumber, makes me think you might be a northwest girl at heart. And that you should come visit our part of the country and see me. 🙂
Oooh. Thank you for asking, Rita and the invitation! I was just talking to my niece last night about how I think in another life I would have loved to live somewhere along that coastline (though I do think I’m more of a freshwater Great Lakes girl at the end of the day). A spreadsheet because I love information, synthesizing and categorizing it, and sharing it in a useful format. (Hence my accounting background and dream of being a librarian!)
North because I’m a bit like the junco that travels north in the summer – I like cooler temps and snow. West because I love a sunset.
Fresh cut lumber (mixed with a little cigarette smoke) will always make me think of my grandpa, who was a brick mason/carpenter. In retirement, he built beautiful wood furniture in his “shoulda shop” and my kitchen table is an oak table he built my mom.
It would be so wonderful to sit at a table and chat with you in person, Rita.
Oh, I would love to have a chat at that table (something Marian and I have wished for, too)! And I love that your kitchen table was built by your grandpa! Mine was a welder/machinist/inventor who turned to woodworking in retirement. I treasure a bowl he made me, and I have some chunky holders for pillar candles that I got after my grandma died. A whole table sounds like a dream. And, for whatever it’s worth, I think you’d make a fabulous librarian. Thank you for telling me more. 🙂
I love this sort of blog post. I am intrigued by the idea of your taste being anise. I’m instantly reminded of my aunt getting out her old-fashioned German rolling pin with the designs on it and making springerle cookies at Christmastime. I like tulips too. And a screen door? Oh that is charming, too.
Thanks, Ally!! I love the sound of that rolling pin!
Thanks, Ally!! That rolling pin sounds awesome!
Ally Bean sent me – this was such fun Kate! As you said, you did not have to over think – will I try it?
I hope you will! I’d love to read it! Thanks for stopping by!!
